Spotlight On: Nicole Milne!

We are SO damn pleased to announce that Crush Improv is pairing up with The Gladstone Theatre’s 2012/2013 Season!

For every show in the Gladstone lineup, Crush Improv will be performing their hit show Spotlight On… featuring that show’s director.

Spotlight On… began as a show at the 2011 Ottawa Fringe Festival and won Crush the Best Ensemble award! The show features a new guest monologist (someone who tells monologues) every night and that person, inspired by a suggestion from the audience, tells short stories from their real life.  Crush then improvises scenes based on those true-life tales, and once the scenes wander a little too far from the original story, the focus goes back to our guest and we hear another anecdote which inspires more scenes.

Nicole Milne is a public relations professional with 20 years experience working in the arts as an actor, director, board member, writer and active volunteer. For years Nicole worked in communications at the National Arts Centre, where she contributed to their social media presence and blog, edited the Prélude magazine, and was the exclusive speech writer for the President and CEO. Currently, she manages media relations for the Gladstone Theatre and is a board member for Orpheus Musical Theatre.

As a director Nicole has worked on numerous projects, including a very well received production of “Rent”  for Orpheus at Centrepointe Theatre in March.

Nicole’s passion and dedication to the arts, as well as her skills as a writer and performer, make her a valuable and dynamic asset to the Ottawa theatre scene. She is directing this year’s holiday-themed radio play at the Gladstone, “Miracle on 34th Street”, opening December 14th; and we’re thrilled to have her in the big comfy chair for the November edition of “Spotlight On…” at the Gladstone on Saturday the 24th.

BONUS: This show will include a very special perfomer – Crush co-founder Brad MacNeil, who now lives in Vancouver, B.C., will appear with the rest of the members of Crush, marking the first time they have performed together since August. Don’t miss it!
